Mission Statement

Creating and empowering all to thrive

by removing literacy barriers.

Our Vision

Pānui me te tuhi ltd has the vision to bridge the gap and increase the number of New Zealanders who are literate and numerate members of their communities, reaching their highest potential. By building each person's mana, confidence, and sense of achievement, we ensure they are all capable and functioning members of society. We believe it is never too late to learn and are committed to supporting anyone on their journey in literacy and mathematics. Mental wellbeing is of high importance to us, and we believe that high levels of literacy and numeracy support better mental wellbeing, job opportunities, and everyday participation in life.

About Us

Pānui me te tuhi ltd was founded by Tiana Connolly in 2021. After working as a teacher (special education) for 10 years and then as a specialist literacy educator for Learning Matters it was time to move in a new direction.

I opened this small business at the end of 2021 and the vision was to not only be able to offer literacy intervention lessons based on the science of reading in English, but also offer it in Te Reo Māori particularly for tamariki in full immersion or Rūmaki (reorua) kura settings needing an extra layer of support.

In 2024 - Aōdhan Connolly joined the team with a passion and wealth of knowledge in both literacy and Math. Aswell as these skills,  Aodhan comes with many years of experience within special education.

Aōdhan is a trained educator in the Orton GIllingham approach for Math instruction as well as MSL specialist literacy training through IMSLE.

We provide a specialised, evidenced based structured literacy approach in order to support all tamariki who require support for reading (Pānui), and writing/spelling (tuhituhi) including tamaiti with learning differences such as Dyslexia.

Support is available in both English and Te Reo màori medium, and consultation with school & kura in the implementation and support of structured literacy within the classroom.

Kia ora my name is Tiana Connolly I currently live in Pirongia with my young whanau. I have an eight year-old daughter, Rōisīn-Pare and a six year- old son, Tama and my husband, Aōdhan. We are a very multicultural whanau speaking three languages, Māori, Gaeilge (Irish Language) and English. Having grown up in Te Awamutu, I love working in the local community and the bonus of working hours that work for my whānau and mean I can be a present māmā as well as teach in my community.

My skill set includes 10 years’ experience catering for diverse learners with complex needs such as mild and profound learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, ADHD and Global Developmental Delays both in the UK and NZ educational settings.

I have taught in both mainstream and special needs schools. I am passionate about providing child-centred approaches to inclusive teaching and learning while supporting teachers, children and their whānau.

I love seeing learners reach success through growth in self- confidence, and knowledge, giving them the motivation to know that anything is possible.

In my spare time you can find me at the CrossFit gym, or getting away to the beach.

Aōdhan Ō Conghaile
OG Math & Structured Literacy

A qualified teacher from Ireland, Aōdhan brings a vast amount of teaching experience in many different settings. His expertise is in Autism/Special Education having taught in Ireland & UK. His teaching experience with challenging behaviour and learning difficulties has given him the ability to accommodate student’s complex needs by tailoring lessons, behaviour management techniques and incorporating independent educational plans to raise student achievement.
